Boys Can Wear Pink Season 5

Boys can wear pink, but it doesn't always have to show! One thing I actually love making is underwear because you get to make them how ever you you want, they don't take a lot of time to sew and you get to be as creative and crazy as you want.

Using Gérald by Jalie, some fabric from L'oiseau Fabrics and my Brother coverstitch CV3550, I was able to sew up some boxers for Sebas. Last year it was the pink shirt (click here to see!). He obviously still wears the shirt because well at the age of 22 he's done with growth spurts!

It was the first time I ordered from L'oiseau, based out in Alberta Canada. The comic book print caught my eye and just couldn't resist. Sebas agreed he liked the print too. Shipping was quick and the fabric is just gorgeous! I kept flip flopping over a raglan style tee or boxers, boxers won.

This isn't the first time I use the Gérald pattern by Jalie, and you can bet it won't be the last. You can see more of them here (click!) on another post.
I wish I could show you more, but this ain't that kind of show 😏

Are you looking for more suggestions and inspiration, check out the rest of the Boys Can Wear Pink tour, then try telling me pink isn't a color for boys!

Jalie - Galaxie 2

I love this tradition that Jalie has started! Last year it was all about bags with Galaxie 1, all types of bags perfect for gift wrapping and gift giving. With Galaxie 2 you'll find the perfect kitchen accessorie for handmade gifts.

Get Galaxie 2 at 50% off until November 26, 2018 with the code GALAXIE2018 at checkout!

The first project from this pattern was the apron and headbands... in a JubeJube and Amelia size!

Some of the features on this fun apron, also available in adult sizes, include a generous front pocket (perfect for puting that recipe) and adjustable straps that slide through grommets.

Yeah, they're both looking at me wanting to bake some cookies...

Those headbands kept their hair out of their eyes and dare I mention away from the food. I can hear it now, Amelia asking me for every colour of the rainbow now that she knows how comfortable it is to wear.

Then length of the apron really offers good coverage to avoid spills and stains.

And yeah, Amelia wants another cookie, ha!

Until next time,

Gérald Boxers by Jalie

I love the new collection of patterns by Jalie. My first sew from the collection is 3885 Gérald boxers

All 27 sizes are included in one pattern and not worry, when printing at home, Gérald by Jalie has the layers feature so you can print only the sizes you need. This pattern also includes long johns and and mid-thigh shorts. The recipient of the new boxers says that fit is spot on and that they're really comfortable... he likes the fact that there's no seam at center back.

The style from view A sew up quite quickly so I decided to have a little fun with my Brother CV3550 coverstitch. My favorite pair has to be the ones with the contrasting fabric, in this case a happy accident because I simply didn't have enough of one fabric to make a full pair. The contrast stitcing really give them a fun look.

I'll be back soon with another new Jalie release!

Until next time, xx.

Back to School 2017 - Day 2

Today Ula of Lulu & Celeste is hosting the tour, but I still get to show off one of my makes. This one was actually ready weeks ago, I know, a bit unusual for me!

Little Amelia is going into grade 1 so I thought comfort and style all in one. For this outfit I used Jalie 3245 Raglan Top & Tunic and the leggings are the Dressage Leggings by Jennuine Design (affiliate link). The fabric is from the Sidewalk collection by Cloud 9 available at Club Tissus.

I think it was determined long ago that Amelia loves pockets, and how adorable is the design of these pockets!

I still can't get over how Jalie can offer 29 different sizes in one pattern and still offer up such a great fit!  You know what that means, I need to make one of these raglan tees in my size! Instructions are available in French and English and although very to the point, they are very easy to understand. I hope that through this tour you will discover everything Jalie has to offer, I've been sewing with their patterns for almost 20 years and have never been disappointed by fit.

For the Dressage Leggings, they have been my favorite for a few years and trust me when I say I've made many, many pairs of leggings using different patterns. Size range available on these is new born to size 12. Two different style have been drafted, the regular leggings that you see here or for more fun and tons of style make a pair that look like riding pants... super cute!

The fabric was supplied to me by Club Tissus for the purpose of the tour and also to be showcased in one of their stores. The selection of fabric is beyond what anyone can imagine! They have knits from Art Gallery, to Birch, to Cloud 9. The quilters cotton available in their stores from popular designers including Riley Blake, Michael Miller, Camelot and so much more! The website is all new and the translation from French to English is beautifully done. More than worth it to go take a look! From now until the end of the month take advantage of free shipping with orders over $75.00. Use the code "livraison75" at checkout and make sure to select the free shipping method to activate the code.

Canada Cups, Cross Your Heart Relay - Jalie 2568

I bet you all want to see what I made using Jalie 2568. Well I can tell you I now have a full drawer of band new undies! I played around with the different styles available in the pattern, and also the different sizes...One thing for sure, smaller sizes are waaaayyyy cuter than the bigger sizes!

I worked with different fabrics and elastic just to see what the results would be. the first pair with the orange trim is almost a mesh type fabric with a good amount of stretch in both directions, and the orange is fold over elastic (FOE). The fabric is very light weight but easy enough to sew because it isn't silky.

I used a picot elastic and a three step zigzig to stitch on the elastic to avoid having the stitches pop. The fabric is a cotton lycra blend. No elastic needed at the legs with the boycut, I just finshed off the hem using my twin needle.

Now get ready for the cutest thing EVER! I was able to make a pair for the JubeJube in my left overs! All this using the same pattern because this pattern contains 27 sizes! The fit is perfect on her too. I get discouraged by the undies in the girls' clothing department, the fabric is so flimsy and the elastics come apart after two washes. I love that this cut of undies gives children that full coverage.

OK, one last pair...The Brazilian cut. These are so quick to make especially if you already have the lace band available to you.

Literally two seams to sew (I used my serger) and then stitching in the lining...and done!

Tomorrow you get to see what I made after having view Beverly's Construction and Fit panties class available on Craftsy...and guess what, I have an awesome deal for you...using my affiliate link you can get the class for half off (for a limited time).
