Mae by Jilly Atlanta

Most of you have probably seen the new Mae Dress pattern by Jilly Atlanta, right? When Jill asked me if I wanted to help test how could I saw no...and this without even seeing the dress. Once you've sewn with a Jilly Atlanta pattern, you know you can't go wrong with her classic style and beautiful but simple details.

This is such a sweet dress. Love the unique shape of the bodice which can be trimmed out with piping or lace or left as is like I've done.

The spaghetti straps join together at the back and are tied in a loop that is sewn into the back bodice.

The pattern is available from sizes 3-6 months to 10 years...and if you join the JillyAtlanta pattern group, you'll also find the Mae Daiper cover pattern for free in the smaller sizes. Size charts and fabric requirements are shown in imperial and metric. You'll also find a uselful list of notions, fun sewing tips. You'll also see step-by-step photos in the tutorial.

Just in case you missed it, here are other posts featuring Jilly Atlanta patterns:

Hazel by Jilly Atlanta AND George & Ginger

So you must have seen the new pattern collaboration by Jilly Atlanta and George & Ginger, right? Meet Hazel!

You can get the Hazel for girls from Jilly Altanta and for ladies over at George & Ginger. Both priced at $7.00 for a very limited time.

So we're getting ready for warmer weather around here (I hope) and this tunic is just the way to start building that spring/summer wardrobe. So happy I got a head start on this one and was able to help test it.

The tunic is designed for light weight wovens and is cut on the bias to give it that beautiful drape. The layers are asymmetric, I think it creates a beautiful style. The back features a keyhole with ties at the back neckline. The whole thing is lined so you could also play around with different colors and textures in the fabric. I chose a fabric from my stash, a light embroidered cotton voile.

So easy to wear, and looks good paired with leggings, capris, or jeans.

Size range for this pattern is from 2 years to 12 years. You'll also find a full tutorial with photos, metric and imperial charts, list of notions and material requirements and a glossary of sewing terms.

I bet when Amelia sees JubeJube's new tunic she'll want one too...better get a jump on that one, heeeheee!

Until next time, xx.

Boho Challenge with Jilly Atlanta's Charlotte

Amelia told me she wanted a shirt, she chose the fabric and sleeve length and I got to choose the pattern. As luck would have it, Jill set up another challenge in her pattern group on facebook, Jilly Atlanta Pattern Group. Make the pattern you want from my shop, make it pretty and make it Boho. And I think, I know that's what I did.

I decided on the new Charlotte pattern with short sleeves, as per Miss Amelia's request.

The embelishment at the front is the show stopper on this blouse. I love the frayed look so I didn't even use a rolled hem on the rows of gathers.

A little bit of cute silliness here...

Now back to this sweet pattern...
Back button closure, different sleeve lengths, dress and blouse lengths and sizes ranging from 2t to 8 years is what you'll get with this pattern, along with step-by-step photos included in the tutorial.

I love how it turned out and I'm so ready to make another for JubeJube seeing that she has now made a request of her own.

Until next time, xx.

Cali Blouse - Jilly Atlanta

You know when a project is handed to you, and its the kick in the butt that you need for the first sewing project of the year...yup Jill, of Jilly Atlanta (link to facebook group)  did that to me, and I would imagine for a lot of others too. Jill proposed to her group members to try any one of her patterns in her Etsy shop, sew it up within the time frame given and she would refund everyone who followed through on the challenge. So yes I did get the pattern for free, but only because I did follow through and sewed it up. All opinions about this PDF pattern are my own.

So I picked the Cali blouse to sew up. JubeJube picked the fabric, she wanted blue and when I showed her 3 or 4 fabrics she jumped on the feathers and I couldn't have made her change her mind even if I wanted to. This fabric is Petit Plume from Camelot fabrics. You do see Amelia here in the photos (the joy of having two girls the same size) only because JubeJube is in school, but JubeJube does love her new blouse. Now to get it off Amelia, I guess I'll be needing to make another.

So many little details to the blouse, like the elastic casing at the uppper part of the long sleeve, the button loops, the curve of the yoke at the front and back and the detailed instructions for French seams.

This is what you get with the purchase of the Cali PDF pattern:

  • sizes 2t-6 years
  • 1/2" seam allowances included
  • Step-by-step photos included with the tutorial
  • Detailed charts in metric and imperial measurements for yardage requirements and body measurements.
  • 80 plus pages of instructions and pattern pieces (in 3 different PDF files)
  • Designed for a woven fabric, but I'm sure it can be made in a knit.
  • Great cutomer service, I got an email a day later from Jill asking me if everything was ok and not to be shy if I had any questions in regards to construction of the pattern.
  • So many different sleeve options and dress or blouse length.
I think the only down side is the fact that it only goes to a size 6.

So we don't need to mess around with this one, I say its a keeper! I'll for sure be making it again!

And this face, well she's a keeper too, don't you agree!

Until next time, xx.
