Pool Side Beach Party : Nantucket for Amelia

Amelia...Chanting " I'm ready for the beach!" getting louder and louder...Can't you hear her?

Here's my swimsuit post for the tour...don't forget to go enter the rafflecopter giveaway at the end!

Well, we did make it too the beach, but not early enough because that summer sun was so bright and so hot!

I started off by looking for the perfect pattern for Amelia and something that would also be fun for me to make and came across Nantucket by Peek-a-Boo patterns (affiliate link).

I got my fabric (Amelia's selection actually) from Club Tissus where they have quite the selection of swimwear fabrics. She wanted roses, and roses she got!

I love the criss-cross back and the neckline, how high it goes.

The pattern ranges from size 3month to 12 years (I'll be sewing many more of these in the next few years). All charts are in metric and imperial measurements, and the pattern pieces are nested to allow for size blending. All seam allowances are included. It was quite easy and qick to put together too.

How can I take her to the beach and not let her have some play time. This water toy in the shape of an elephant was just too cute to pass up! Much like a water pistol, but with the cuteness of an animal.

Until next time, xx.

Felicity by Peek-a-Boo Patterns

Looking for that fun summer dress...here it is! Amy of Peek-a-Boo Patterns has designed Felicity (affiliate link) a sweet dress with full back or halter top option.

Had issues taking photos of Miss Amelia seeing that she was quite upset the the dress wasn't hers. I thought she'd get over it with the promise of a treat, but not at all!

So we have some pouting and sulking because she LOVES this dress!

As usual with Peek-a-Boo patterns you get a huge size range (3 months to 12 years) nested pattern pieces for easy size blending, 1/2" seam allowance and all charts are in metric and imperial measurements.

Some of the design options include:

  • Full back or halter back (with shirring).
  • Knee length or maxi.
  • Button placket all the way down the front or just at front bodice.

I think the only way I can end this sulking is making her a dress of her own, which is a great idea since it is such a fun sew!

Until next time, xx.

PJ's for Spring Break

Its the first week of spring and its freezing here, so no short sleeved jammies for now. Instead I made a crowd favorite, Alex and Anna Winter PJ's by Peek-a-Boo Patterns! (affiliate link)

As usual, Amelia chose her fabric, she pleaded with me to buy this panda bear print. The fabric is 95% cotton and 5% spandex from Fabricville, its so soft and comfy.

This child is growing like a weed so I decided to make a size 6 and really glad I did.

This pattern is really easy and fast to put together, only 90 minutes from start to finish including a number of interruptions from a little girl asking for snacks. As usual Amy's insturctions are easy to follow. The size range of this pattern is 3 months to 12 years, a fantastic range to make good use of this pattern.

The final result is a cozy PJ to take Amelia into the warmer weather. I see more of these on my to-do list! I really do like the way they fit and she didn't want to take them off which means that she likes them too.

So this one is a winner, Amelia approved, and she even got her snacks!

Special thanks to the 24 designers that sponsored the prizes for the giveaways!

Fun Wardrobe Basics For My Sweet Little Valentines

I've been making the girls a lot of wardrobe basics like undies and socks...JubeJube asked me for some undershirts to keep her tummy warm she said. I looked in my pattern stash and saw that I had the Classic Camisole and Panties from Peek-a-Boo patterns (affiliate) so I decided to make some, for Valentine's Day.

And well since I was making the cami I thought I should make the matching set.

Each with their own special little details. The floral print fabric is a wonderful soft cotton knit by Riley Blake "Vintage Market", supplied to me by Threads and Stitches on Etsy. The solid knits are from my stash.

And how about that sweet heart appliqué, its one of those iron ons, and Amelia loved it!

Both Amelia and JubeJube so pleased to get such cozy Valentines.

Until next time, xx.

Comfy Cozy Fleece Bathrobes

I was wanting to wait and give these bathrobes to JubeJube and Amelia as Christmas gifts, but then, I just couldn't wait. I used the Comfy Cozy Robe by Peek-a-Boo Patterns* and the fabric is fleece from my stash from a couple of years ago. I had no fabric to spare, I didn't even have enough to make the oversized pockets. That'll teach me not wait so long to sew up fabric when I buy it.

I let the girls choose their fabrics, JubeJube went with the pink and Amelia screamed out CHOCOLATE! YAY I WANT CHOCOLATE! She didn't make herself available for photos at this point, and I wasn't about to argue with her but you do get to see JubeJube in her finished robe.

I made a size 6-7, the sleeves are a little long, but at least now it will fit her for some time.

Here are some pattern details:

  • Size range is from 6 months to 12 years
  • 18" doll size included
  • Yardage and measurement charts included
  • 1/2 " seam allowances included
  • Photos along with step-by-step tutorial
  • Cowl or hood options included
  • Designed for fabrics such as fleece, flannel, and light weight knits.

One thing I did, was add that sitiching midway the sash, not because I was affraid of loosing it in the wash, it was more because I didn't want the girls to tie each other up with them (yes my girls don't always play nice with eachother)

Until next time, xx.

Fun In The Sun...Turning 6

Today is a special day, JubeJube turns 6! My little bundle of energy celebrates her birthday with a trip to the beach sporting her new swimcap and swimsuit, both lovingly made by her mama. I used the new free pattern, Peggy's swimcap by Filles a Maman (affiliate link), and the Waikiki swimsuit by Peek-a-Boo patterns (affiliate link).

This is the perfect starter project for you if you've never sewn swimwear, the free pattern by Filles a Maman doesn't demand too much time or fabric. Its also a great opportunity to try out FAM patterns if you haven't had the chance because its free for you to download!

Here is what to expect with Filles a Maman's swimcap pattern:

  • The pattern can be downloaded in French or English
  • Tech drawings included with the step-by-step instructions
  • Sizes 12 months to 14 years included
  • Measurement chart and fabric requirement chart included
  • Layered printing to print out only the sizes you need or want
  • Cutting layout
  • 1/4" seam allowances included

After deciding that I was making this swimcap I needed to make a swimsuit to match the fun retro style of the cap. I went with the Waikiki one piece swimsuit by Peek-a-Boo patterns. Those ruffles on the butt made me giggle and I knew that JubeJube would love them.

Here are some of the details of the Waikiki from Peek-a-Boo:

  • Sizes 3 months to 12 years included
  • Easy to follow instructions with step-by-step photos
  • 3/8" seam allowances included
  • Some pattern pieces need to be self drafted, measurements for those rectangular pieces are provided in a chart
  • Tips for sewing swimsuit fabric

After sewing up these two patterns I've decided I will never buy a swimsuit again for the girls. Both patterns were fun and easy and the outcome is a great fit and an original design.

Happy birthday to you my JubeJube!

Until next time, xx.

Anchors Aweigh!

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to test the sailor dress pattern, Anchors Aweigh, from the Peek-a-Boo Pattern Shop (affiliate link)*. I couldn't be more pleased with final product! I love the fact that I can buy a pattern at anytime, get it right away in PDF form and just print it out.

The pattern is very easy to work with. The instructions are clear and there are step-by-step photos to help you out along the way. Sizes range from 3 months to 12 years. The bodice is lined and there are buttons down the back.

I used a grey shirting fabric to give it a vintage look and the fabric is light weight so the dress is easy to wear even in warm weather.

To give this dress a touch of whimzy I added a band of white with tiny red polka dot fabric at the sleeves and the hem of the dress.

I just love the added detail of the red grosgrain ribbon.

Special thanks to Tanya Zaleski Photocreations for this early morning and very last minute shoot.
