Summer Surprise Two Ways

All week has been a fun ride and now its finally my turn to show off my Summer Surprise. First, a little trip down memory lane. Last year I tested the Summer Surprise and it was Anne's first pattern for her new pattern company, Sofilantjes. Read about my post from one year ago here.

Now on to what I did to this already fun pattern. For JubeJube I lengthened her dress to a maxi. I used her Summer Surprise from last year that now fits her as a cute tunic and measured from under her arm to the ground. 

For the back I decided to make ties, I used grosgrain ribbon.

Funny enough both JubeJube and Amelia wanted the same fabric. Usually they want to have something that is all their own. 

For Amelia I wanted something she could wear just about anywhere, so I went with a romper mash up. I used a simple short pattern for this. The only thing was to make sure that the waistline to the shorts would match up to the waistline of the top without stretching either pieces out. I added an elastic to the waist and to the hem of the shorts. 

Again I added the ties to the back to make sure this little number could go on and off easily for Amelia.

Brueram Dress Pattern by Sofilantjes

Its here! The much awaited  Brueram dress pattern by Sofilantjes (affiliate link) is now available! Such a pretty name for this pattern but some of you must be wondering the meaning or the origin, right? Well its Latin and its meaning is Heather. Isn't it beautiful!

This is the tulip skirt version, but in the pattern you'll also have the maxi dress and the peplum top.

This is the feature that give this dress such a nice tailored look...the shirring keeps the bodice snug and in place but allows for comfort and ease of movement. For those who don't like shirring there's also insturctions in the tutorial for elastic casings. If you need more information on how to achieve shirring, just look up my tutorial here.

I just love the fit of this dress! The neckline sits perfectly, and there's no way those straps with their given position will slip off.

Otium For Me!

Yes, this one is for me! Ever since I saw the first Otium Sweater by Sofilantjes I knew I was going to make it, I even bought the pattern when it was released in Sofilantjes pattern shop. I even knew what fabric from my stash I was going to use, and what style I was going to make...and finally I made it for me.

There's an easy giveaway at the end of this post so make sure read all the way to the end...there's a 12 patterns up for grabs all going to one lucky ready. Also so many stops on this tour from all over, go take a look, you may even discover your new favorite blog.

First, you can thank my sister and Pinterest for getting me into those fancy high boots and leggings, something I would not have done a little over a month ago. Second, lets thank Annemieke for such a fun pattern. Put them all together and there you have an easy comfy look.

I made the short sleeve version with the bow at the back. I added a couple of inches to the length of the top to make sure it would go past my hips when pairing it with leggings. I also used fold over elastic at the neckline instead of the fabric binding used in the pattern. Other than that I kept everything as is.  

This pattern was a dream to make. Printing, taping, cuting and sewing...2 hours. I really need to consider making more of these for myself using the other options, long sleeves and 3/4 length sleeves with the full back.

In case you're wondering, sizes range for the women's only pattern XS- XXXL, and for the girls' sizes they range from 12 months to 14 years, get the bundle and you get all the sizes included.

You may have recognised  Amelia's little face here...she got 2 Otiums (she may have to share with JubeJube though).
