Boho Challenge with Jilly Atlanta's Charlotte

Amelia told me she wanted a shirt, she chose the fabric and sleeve length and I got to choose the pattern. As luck would have it, Jill set up another challenge in her pattern group on facebook, Jilly Atlanta Pattern Group. Make the pattern you want from my shop, make it pretty and make it Boho. And I think, I know that's what I did.

I decided on the new Charlotte pattern with short sleeves, as per Miss Amelia's request.

The embelishment at the front is the show stopper on this blouse. I love the frayed look so I didn't even use a rolled hem on the rows of gathers.

A little bit of cute silliness here...

Now back to this sweet pattern...
Back button closure, different sleeve lengths, dress and blouse lengths and sizes ranging from 2t to 8 years is what you'll get with this pattern, along with step-by-step photos included in the tutorial.

I love how it turned out and I'm so ready to make another for JubeJube seeing that she has now made a request of her own.

Until next time, xx.

Cali Blouse - Jilly Atlanta

You know when a project is handed to you, and its the kick in the butt that you need for the first sewing project of the year...yup Jill, of Jilly Atlanta (link to facebook group)  did that to me, and I would imagine for a lot of others too. Jill proposed to her group members to try any one of her patterns in her Etsy shop, sew it up within the time frame given and she would refund everyone who followed through on the challenge. So yes I did get the pattern for free, but only because I did follow through and sewed it up. All opinions about this PDF pattern are my own.

So I picked the Cali blouse to sew up. JubeJube picked the fabric, she wanted blue and when I showed her 3 or 4 fabrics she jumped on the feathers and I couldn't have made her change her mind even if I wanted to. This fabric is Petit Plume from Camelot fabrics. You do see Amelia here in the photos (the joy of having two girls the same size) only because JubeJube is in school, but JubeJube does love her new blouse. Now to get it off Amelia, I guess I'll be needing to make another.

So many little details to the blouse, like the elastic casing at the uppper part of the long sleeve, the button loops, the curve of the yoke at the front and back and the detailed instructions for French seams.

This is what you get with the purchase of the Cali PDF pattern:

  • sizes 2t-6 years
  • 1/2" seam allowances included
  • Step-by-step photos included with the tutorial
  • Detailed charts in metric and imperial measurements for yardage requirements and body measurements.
  • 80 plus pages of instructions and pattern pieces (in 3 different PDF files)
  • Designed for a woven fabric, but I'm sure it can be made in a knit.
  • Great cutomer service, I got an email a day later from Jill asking me if everything was ok and not to be shy if I had any questions in regards to construction of the pattern.
  • So many different sleeve options and dress or blouse length.
I think the only down side is the fact that it only goes to a size 6.

So we don't need to mess around with this one, I say its a keeper! I'll for sure be making it again!

And this face, well she's a keeper too, don't you agree!

Until next time, xx.

Emerson Blog Tour

I love when I get to meet a new designer and even better when I get to be a part of their very first blog tour of their very first pattern! Darcy of Ginger House Designs has desinged a dress and tunic that just suits my style and I fell in love with the pattern from the get go! You can pick up your copy of the pattern in their Etsy shop.

I made the tunic so that JubeJube could wear it layered all through fall. I also made mine without sleeve, but there is a lovely flutter sleeve options in the pattern.

The ruffles down the front bodice are just so sweet. I used a pre-ruffled cotton eyelet that matched perfectly the cotton print I had on hand.

JubeJube was so pleased there was still pretty flowers left in the garden this time of year...its getting cold here!

The bodice features button closures down the back for easy dressing.

I thought you should know that I got this pattern for free for the purpose of sewing up something pretty for the tour, but all opinions are my own!

There are other stops on the tour, so go check them out.

Until next time, xx.

Spring Line Release by My Little Plumcake and Bundle Giveaway

My little Plumcake has just released their amazing spring line, four patterns in all. Don't forget to use the code "spring14" at check out to get 15% off each of the patterns released today which include the Addie Spring Shorts, the Maddalie Spring Dress, the Chloe Pleasted Skirt and the Harper Blouse! You can also get yourself the bundle of all four patterns. For the first 100 people to buy the bundle get an extra discount using the code "Collection2014"

Here are the versions I tested.

The Maddalie Spring Dress on JubeJube.

I love this dress layered with a cardigan.

The Chloe Pleated Skirt.

I added the premade ruffle at the bottom of the skirt lining to have it peek out from under the pleated skirt for a little extra whimsy.

The Addie Spring Shorts.

And the Haper Blouse that can be paired with either the shorts or the pleated skirt. It so happened that I did have photos of the shorts and blouse together, but little Miss Amelia, after one smile, decided that she had enough and wanted to hold her baby doll. Doesn't make for very nice photos to have a doll under your arm or right in front of the shirt, the very one you're trying to get photos of.

Michelle from My Little Plumcake has worked so hard to get these patterns together, and all of it is so beautiful! Here is a collage of photos from thier official shoot.

My Little Plumcake has more photos of this shoot on their facebook page, go ahead and have a look.

Now for some big news...My Little Plumcake is offering a bundle of all 4 patterns to one lucky winner! Just enter here using Rafflecopter!
