Sew 'n Style with Lil Luxe Collection

I can't believe it, I made it through another fun sewing marathon! Once again invited by my friend Melissa over at Rebel & Malice to take part in the Sew'n Style Series featuring patterns designed by Jessica Bustos of Lil Luxe Collection.

I started off with trying to find fabrics within my desired color palette and then this project took on a life of its own. My color theme had surprisingly  changed but the results are beautiful! With Jessica's stylish patterns and my fabric finds I've created a chic  romantic look for my girls. I must admit that a lot of my fabrics were already in my stash and my favorite purchase would be the french terry I purchased to make the Peek-a-Boo Hoodie. I wish I had purchased enough to make one for me.

The color palatte I ended up with. Thank you Sherwin-Williams

The goal was to produce a cohesive look using mostly Lil Luxe patterns. Actually all the patterns I used are from the Lil Luxe Collection and these patterns are so fun to work with! So here we go from left to right:

  • Peek-a-Boo Hoodie
  • Slim Trousers in a denim floral print
  • Socialite Peplum
  • Haute Short
  • Lakeshore Crop Jacket
  • Modern Belle Dress in a pink taffeta
  • Rouche & Divide in a knit fabric
  • Slim Trousers in black corduroy

I just love the zipper detail at the bottom of the slim trousers. and the pocket of this hoodie!

I made theRouche & Divide top in a soft knit. Amelia put it on and said right away that it felt cozy. The details on this top are the rouched sleeve ad the inverted pleat at the back. So pretty, so sweet!

The cowl neck on this peplum top adds such a cute style to any outfit but pairing the top with the Haute Shorts is cuteness overlaod when put on Amelia.

This classic houndstooth jacket and pink taffeta dress is just perfect for JubeJube. This is her style, this is what she picked out as being her favorite.

After seeing all these pretty outfits you'll want to make you way to Lil Luxe Collection and enter the giveaway with over $350.00 in prizes. Also more in the series to be seen so take a look at the other participants in this adventure!

Don't forget to add your collection to the linky party (or vote) for your chance to win! See full contest details here.

Bubble Dress by Heidi & Finn

The Bubble Dress Pattern by Heidi & Finn is now available! If you were looking for the perfect Holiday dress you may have just found it. Even better, the pattern is at a special price for the launch, only 5.00$ for all sizes 12 months to 12 years for a limited time (until Sunday the 7th of December). You can get it in their Craftsy Shop.

When I saw this pattern I thought it would make the perfect New Years Eve dress so I decided to make it with a silver taffeta. I love working with taffeta it makes the poof stay in dresses and skirts.

This pattern is very easy to make, and through all the testing it was decided that there would be two different fits to the dress pattern, regular fit and slim fit. Here are more details about this pattern:

  • Size range from 12 months to 12 years
  • Slim fit and regular fit included in the pattern
  • Belt loop options so that a belt can be worn with the dress
  • Easy to follow instructions with different options for back closure (placket or button loop)
  • Fully lined dress
  • Must use wide fabrics (60 inches) in order to fit the pattern pieces on fabric without seams
  • Recommended fabrics are cottons, taffeta, satins, suiting... different fabrics will give different looks to this dress.

And the tiara was JubeJube's idea, she said the dress made her feel like a princess.

Until next time, xx.

New Years Eve in a Caroline Party Dress

The last project of 2013, The Caroline Party Dress by Mouse House Creations. The girls were the talk of the party in their new dresses. Was I ever glad to get photos done a day before the party because there was a lot of this...

and this...

And that's fine, but a little hard to show what the dress really looks like.

So now here are princesses Amelia and JubeJube in their black taffeta with pink embroidered flower dresses.

And we had to include a photo of grey cat because JubeJube just loves her grey cat :)

Wishing you a happy 2014!

The Caroline Party Dress by Mouse House Creations

My Amelia has just been transformed into a princess thanks to the new pattern from Mouse House Creations, The Caroline Party Dress. The PDF pattern is available as of Monday in their Etsy shop. This is one pattern I was so glad to got to test! I chose the super simple options for Amelia, no pockets, no collar, no belt loops, but I did make it with the tulle underskirt. Once I put the dress on her "the beast" had been tamed and she was twirling around like a ballerina.

The pattern features a high waist line, knee length dress, fully lined bodice and faux cap sleeves. Options of inseam pockets, peter pan collar, and belt loops are all explained in the tutorial. The tutorial is so simple to follow and there are even tips for a super easy zipper installation. I couldn't believe how fast the dress came together.

For this dress I used a pink taffeta that has a velvet polka dot to it. FYI don't even drop water on taffeta because you will stain your fabric, and don't ask why I know this. I used a polyester lining for the underskirt and bodice and an invisible zipper down the back of the dress.

And there you have the ballerina twirl.
