Pattern Parcel #5: Choose your own price and support DonorsChoose. Win/win

The first pattern I've used out of the parcel in the Lily Knit Blazer by Peek-a-Boo Patterns.

Love that this little blazer has all the details of a tailored garment, but also has all the comfort of a knit. I made a little modification to mine. I made an inverted pleat at the back instead of gathering the fabric of the lower back panel.

I also did a lot of top stitching including using the blanket stitch that I have on my sewing machine to outline the princess seams and collar.

I have used up a couple of other patterns in the parcel and I can't wait to show you what I've done. Enjoy the other stops on the inspiration tour and don't forget to pick up your parcel today...its only going to be around for a limited time!

Emerson Blog Tour

I love when I get to meet a new designer and even better when I get to be a part of their very first blog tour of their very first pattern! Darcy of Ginger House Designs has desinged a dress and tunic that just suits my style and I fell in love with the pattern from the get go! You can pick up your copy of the pattern in their Etsy shop.

I made the tunic so that JubeJube could wear it layered all through fall. I also made mine without sleeve, but there is a lovely flutter sleeve options in the pattern.

The ruffles down the front bodice are just so sweet. I used a pre-ruffled cotton eyelet that matched perfectly the cotton print I had on hand.

JubeJube was so pleased there was still pretty flowers left in the garden this time of year...its getting cold here!

The bodice features button closures down the back for easy dressing.

I thought you should know that I got this pattern for free for the purpose of sewing up something pretty for the tour, but all opinions are my own!

There are other stops on the tour, so go check them out.

Until next time, xx.

Omni Tempore Hoodie by Sofilantjes

Not too long ago the Omni Tempore was released as a simple knit top with a cowl type collar. After some suggestions for add-ons were made Annemieken went back to drafting and added a hoodie, a front kangaroo pocket, cuffs and a waist band. Having missed out on the first round of testing I wanted to help test out on the new add ons. The results, a fun little hoodie for boys and girls! These add-ones are now available at Annemieken's new website, Sofilantjes Patterns, in Etsy and Craftsy at 20% off with no coupon code needed.

I also have a copy for one lucky reader, so read to the end on details on how to enter. Thank you Annemieken!

So green is not the most photogenic color, but I assure you it looks lovely on Amelia. I added some appliques to the front pocket to girly it up a bit, they had been in my stash for some time now and I figured use them or lose them.

The hood is lined with a knit fabric that I had left over from another project and thought that it made the perfect contrast.

Some details about this pattern:
  • Size range from 12 months to 14 years
  • Designed for knit fabrics
  • Short and long sleeve options
  • Hoodie or cowl collar options
  • Easy to follow instruction with step by step photos and tech drawings

I think you'll agree its the perfect sweater for the fall.

Don't forget to enter the giveaway!

Until next time, xx.

EYMM Hoodie Blog Tour

I can't believe it, look who made it on my blog! My son, Sebastien, is sporting the Asymmetrical Hoodie by EYMM (affiliate link). I haven't made him anything for so long (except for PJ pants) and he was actually looking forward to getting the hoodie all sewn up so he could wear it.

You can get your own copy of the PDF pattern  at a discount with the code "hoodiesrock"  at checkout and this code is good for the  Zander's Hoodie & Hooded Vest, the Boy's Silhouettes Reverse Applique Pack, and pre-orders of the His & Hers Asymmetrical Hoodie (its still in testing and should be available Sept.23).

Most of Kymy's patterns are for confident beginners, but this pattern is more for  intermediate level sewing. The zipper installation is quite easy and well explained but sometimes it could take more than one try to make everything line up just perfectly.

I love seeing the magic of this hoodie come together.  The design of this one is very different than any hoodie I've ever put together.

This face is telling me, ok mom, enough with the photos already.

Check out the other stops on the tour! I promise there's something for every one!

Self Drafted Hoodie

Ever procrastinate about something because you're too affraid of messing up? Well, yup that's me! Many months ago (actually 2 years) a friend of mine asked for a hooded  sweatshirt, handed over her fabric and talked about the basic style she wanted me to make.

We pinned ideas on pinterest and I started drafting. I made a muslin, adjusted little things for fit...added princess seams, adjusted a little more...and when it came time to cut into the good fabric I froze! I just couldn't bare the thought of messing up. Maura, being an artist herself understood the anxiety  I was feeling and was so encouraging and so I made the first cut!

The design features princess seams in the front and back a lined kangaroo pocket and a mega hood that crosses over in the front and finishes off in a point.

Seeing how comfy it looks I may just have to make one for myslef!

Until next time, xx.

Ruby Jean's Closet: Adele Re-release

Ruby Jean's Closet has just  re-released Adele featuring more options! The updated pattern is now available in their Etsy shop.

That bib is what first attracted me to this dress, its shape is so unique and there are so many possibilities for different looks using different fabric combinations.

Updates include:

  • More sizes! Sizes range from 1 to 10
  • 2 lengths, below the knee (mid calf) and maxi
  • Updated instructions
  • Sweet appliqué pockets have also been added

By the way, those buttons, I got them at a wonderful online store...Anny May has a really wide selection of wood buttons, coconut buttons and other eco friendly items!

Now back to Adele!

Love the vintage style of this dress, and I find it really suits my dreamy faced JubeJube.

Until next time, xx.
