All about Petitboo!

So its my turn to post my makes using Petitboo patterns...but first I think it would be fun to back track to when Petitboo was E+M Patterns, just so you know these patterns have been around and they are tried, tested, and true!

First up, Rose. This was Julia's all time favorite dress and I just had to make another. This dress first appeared on my blog in September 2014. Squeel! Look at her little round face!

And now, March 2017

This is the Hemlock shirt, it was on the blog back in June 2014...

Here's the most recent one I made.

I made the bottom part of the bodice a longer, and instead of the 15 inches required in width I used 23 inches to be able to make gathers and create a little girly look for this shirt.

And finally, Huckleberry, from March 2014...That cat must have made it into every photoshoot...It kept JubeJube happy at least!

And now, March 2017... Three years later!

I've been hoarding this fabric for some time now, I love it and I thought it would look best as a very comfy looking trouser, its more of a chambray then a denim, so light and airy.

All week long you'll be able to see more fun creations and inspiration with Petitboo patterns...And to top it off, Allison has added a coupon code for her Etsy shop! Enjoy 50% off on ALL patterns with the code "PETITBOO50" at checkout! Code only valid in Etsy and until Friday, March 10th. Oh and FYI you can get a couple of free patterns in the Petitboo Craftsy shop...try them out, you'll love working with these patterns!

By the way, Melissa at MahlicaDesigns has her post up too... you need to go check out the lightning t-shirt she made!

Petitboo Day 1

Some of you may have been wondering where has E+M Patterns gone...No fear, they have simply moved to a new place to go join Petitboo on Craftsy and Etsy. Both pattern shops are owned by Allison and to simplify a busy life she decided to merge both pattern companies!

Here's just a sneak peek at what Roxanne of Crafty Like a Rox  and Miranda of Inspinration have created with Petitboo patterns.

The Simple Life by Monaluna Fabrics

When I first saw these fabrics I knew I wanted to make something beautiful. Something that I could stand back and look at and wonder what would my grandmother and great grandmother, who were quilters, think.

I have to admit it was a process, and at one point I didn't think that I would be able to show you a completed project, and again I wanted to push through because I knew that if I didn't get it finished and I were to post about a work in progess that this beautiful quilt would have taken a back seat to a bunch of other projects I have coming up. Now I can go back to feeding my kids and doing laundry...with the amount of hours I put into this one the rest of the house did take a back seat. So grateful that Daniel was there to make sure that there was clean underwear and lunches were made for the girls.

The quilt pattern I chose was Yellow Brick Road, available in the Etsy shop at Phat Quarters. I felt that it was the best way to combine all nine fabric prints in the new Simple Life collection by Monaluna. Maybe now I can stop singing Goodbye Yellow Brick Road by Elton John?

I still can't believe I went from cutting, to assembling, to quilting... in all less than a week for a twin size bed.

One thing about this quilt pattern that I would recommend, use a short stitch length so that your stitching doesn't come apart. The instructions have you assemble strips of fabric length wise then have you cut through those strips perpendicular to your stitching so yes, you need to cut right through your stitches.

I did skip the border on this one so I was left with four extra blocks, just enough for a throw pillow. So that's what I did. I even made it with a zipper so when I want to put the quilt away I can just store it in the throw pillow cover!

Now a little more about the fabric. This collection of prints by Monaluna is available in canvas (perfect for bags or coats), lawn (light weight cotton great for blouses and flowy dresses) or poplin (great for quilting or shirts). For obvious reasons I worked with the poplin. The fabric is just so wonderful to touch, the colors are beautiful and vibrant. The collection as a whole is just delicious!

You'll find more inspiration with this fabric on the other stops of this tour. Go check them out, and while you're at it, go enter the giveaway!

OneThimble #14 - part 2

Today I'm showing off two more patterns included in One Thimble issue #14 (affiliate link). To start off, here's Loli by Bobkin Design.

Loli is a sweet little sundress with an option to have buttons down the back. Another option included in this pattern is an elastic cassing at the back for a more snug fit.

I used a cotton voile for this dress so I felt the need to line it. In lining the dress I was able to create more volume to the dress.

Such a great staple for the summer, although for now, we're recovering from a huge snow fall, so its hard to imagine that the warm weather will be back soon.

Next up is JubeJube wearing her new Trillium blouse by Petite Stitchery. This blouse was all about fabric placement. I love this fabric and had just enough left to make Trillium.

The bodice leaves a lot of room for creativity. I added a decorative stitching but you could add lace or piping, or even a contasting fabric to make it you own.

Different sleeve options and maxi dress are also included in this pattern. This is one you'll want to be making over and over again!

Take a look at the other stops on the tour for more fun and inspiration! Don't forget to pick up your copy of One Thimble today!

One Thimble #14

One Thimble 14 (affiliate link)  is out and with so much to see in this issue! One of Twig & Tale's patterns is featured in this issue and I just had to get up close with this one.

While out friends in the southern hemisphere are enjoying their summer weather, I'm  knee deep in snow. When I saw the hottie cover by Twig & Tale I thought it would be the perfect project ot keep warm and cozy, especially after a full day of playing in the snow. The of of snuggling up in a blanket with a hot water bottle and a fun book appeals to the kiddos and me.

Three different animals are included with the pattern, the cat, panda bear and owl. They are all adorable!

Since this project doesn't require much fabric I used what I had on hand, some off white terrycloth, and flannel for the facial features. I used a little Heatn' Bond to get the eyes and nose on.

And that cute tail! ha!

Here's a look at some of the other contributers to issue #14 of One Thimble. I'll be back in a couple of days with the patterns from Petite Stitchery and Bobkin Designs. Don't forget to pick up your copy of One Thimble today!
