Upton by Blaverry

Shaking my head, wondering why I haven't made Upton by Blaverry before now. I know you'll be wondering the same once you get a closer look at this sweet knit dress.

This little knit dress has so much style it can be worn with Valentino inspired shoes.

The real surprise is at the back with that pleat in a contrasting fabric.

The fabrics are both Art Gallery Fabrics, the main is Artisan Aged Allure Washed and the contrast is Forest Floor.

This pattern by Blaverry is available in sizes 2T to 16 years and as with very blaverry pattern you get layered printing so you print only the sizes you want or need. All charts included are in metric and imperial measurements. Instructions included step-by-step tech drawings...And so much more, you can look up the details for yourself here.

Will I make it again...Yes! infact I have another one cut out and ready to go for Amelia. This little dress is so comfortable and easy to wear, even pairing it with sneakers would be adorable.

Go check out some more inspiration for sewing up the Upton dress:

Until next time, xx.

Maddox by Blaverry

You'll find Maddox on the Blaverry website along with other ggreat patterns to create a back-to-school wardrobe.

Talking about back to school, this little one is starting kindergarten tomorrow and my mommy heart has mixed emotions about that...but that is for another time.

To start with, Maddox has been designed for woven fabrics, and since I do try to sew from my stash I found this print that I has squirreled away from myself, it called out to me and said Amelia should get it as a new safari style dress.

Be warned, this is not a beginner friendly pattern. The version with sleeves has a continuous lap, and buttonholes, and pockets with pocket flaps and that front buttons placket is a little of a challenge if you've never done one before.

I love the small design details like the curved hem.

This pattern also features 4 oversized pockets with pleats and pocket flaps.

Yeah, I think this little one is ready for school and new adventures!

Be sure to check out the rest of the Maddox creations all week long!

Until next time, xx.

Thea by Blaverry

The must have for back to school... I say its Thea by Blaverry. The pattern has just gotten a little revamp and is back from testing.

What's new with Thea, how about 3 differnt sleeve lengths, diagram and charts to write down your model's measurements and a coloring page so you can get a few extra minutes of sewing time while your little model creates her own designs.

This little sun shower did not rain out JubeJube's parade, infact she enjoyed every moment of this.

Not just plain gathering of the skirt by actual pleats gives this dress such pretty details.

The length is just above the knee and paring it with leggings or tights for the cool fall season is the perfect way to stay warm and comfortable.

I used a 95% cotton 5% spandex blend for this dress and I do believe the weight and drape of this fabric is perfect for Thea.

Cruise & Star by Blaverry

So we're still on vacation, and so up north it is for this fun little photo shoot featuring Star and Cruise by Blaverry.

I still can't believe that I was so bold as to put two prints together, a floral and a lattice style print. But they really work together and JubeJube loves the the whole outfit.

I had spotted the vintage telephone booth some time ago and always wanted to do a shoot here, today was the day! and to top it off, parking two steps away.

Ok, back to the patterns...
These two patterns have been just retested and released with new options. For Star this includes 3 sleeve lengths, nested pattern pieces for easier blending of sizes.

For Cruise a full testing of all sizes was done to make sure that the best fit would be achieved for just about any body type. Still the same great design with the welted pockets at the back, and front hip pockets, adjustable elastic at the waist, and so many options for lengths...capries, bermudas, shorts.

More window shopping for JubeJube...

As usual, with every Blaverry pattern your get a huge size range from size 2t to 16 years, layered printing, measurement charts in metric and imperial, and quick to the point assemble instructions.

Just in case you're wondering about the location, this is Petit Hameau in St-Jovit. A location with fun little shops and great restaurants.

And finally LUNCH! A quick little stop at Churros & Churros, the kids enjoyed it! Also a chance to get a couple of extra shots in.

So much more inspirations to check out as you Cruise around to the other blog posts on this mini tour!

Vivie by Blaverry

Vivie by Blaverry has been revamped! So excited to show off the newest options on this practicle and classic style shirt dress.

This is a great pattern with a classic style but with all the details involved I wouldn't try this as a first sewing project. The bodice has darts, there's a collar stand with collar, side seam pockets, button placket with buttons all the way down the front. If you feel that you're at that point in your sewing skills, then yes, go for it!

The new feature on this pattern is the sleeve! Actually 3 sleeve lengths are now available on this pattern, short, half sleeve, and long sleeve.

I have a confession to make, This dress started out being for JubeJube, so I cut out a size 5. All through the process of sewing up the dress I had JubeJube try it on to make all the adjustments needed. When I got to the end...she says "but there's not enough pink, I don't like it." So Amelia has it, but I also had to bribe her with ice cream to get her to wear it because she wanted a polka dot fabric. You'll notice that the waist is a little bit low on her, Amelia's torso is a lot shorter than JubeJube's. Amelia's bodice would have been a size 4 in length and I would have added some length to the skirt for it to hit above the knee.

Lessons learned, I should keep letting them choose their own fabric so they like everything about the garments I make them.

Yves by Blaverry

Another pattern by Blaverry has been updated, and here it is! JubeJube loves the dress I made her using Yves and the light cotton voile from my stash.

Updates includes three different lengths (dress, tunic and top), full linging to make it reversible and little extras like a coloring page for your budding designer.

What you can expect with ALL Blaverry patterns:

  • Huge size range, from 2T to 16 years.
  • Layered printing, print only the sizes you need.
  • Easy instructions for blending sizes for a custom fit.
  • Measurement charts in imperial and metric.
  • Easy to the point instructions with tech drawings for each step.
  • Fun styles that your kids will love to wear.

JubeJube and I took a walk in the woods for this mini shoot. The fabric has a definite boho style to it with its ombre dye and ribbon appliqué.

As we walked she kept on say that she was like a real princess, like Poca-the-hauntis (I just love when kids change words around).

Until next time, xx

Meet Ollie, a sleeveless top featuring tow collar options and a hook and eye closure at the back. This is a great top to wear on its own or layered with a cardigan. The fabric is a 95% cotton 5% lycra that I purchased at my local Fabricville.

Nina is also sewn in a knit fabric. Again, a great stash buster if you're sewing from your stash seeing that you don't need a lot of fabric for it.

The skirt has an a-line shape and the hem hits above the knee.

You really need to experience Blaverry patterns for yourself, I can tell you I'm hooked!

Until next time, xx.

A bientôt, xx.
