PJ's for Spring Break

Its the first week of spring and its freezing here, so no short sleeved jammies for now. Instead I made a crowd favorite, Alex and Anna Winter PJ's by Peek-a-Boo Patterns! (affiliate link)

As usual, Amelia chose her fabric, she pleaded with me to buy this panda bear print. The fabric is 95% cotton and 5% spandex from Fabricville, its so soft and comfy.

This child is growing like a weed so I decided to make a size 6 and really glad I did.

This pattern is really easy and fast to put together, only 90 minutes from start to finish including a number of interruptions from a little girl asking for snacks. As usual Amy's insturctions are easy to follow. The size range of this pattern is 3 months to 12 years, a fantastic range to make good use of this pattern.

The final result is a cozy PJ to take Amelia into the warmer weather. I see more of these on my to-do list! I really do like the way they fit and she didn't want to take them off which means that she likes them too.

So this one is a winner, Amelia approved, and she even got her snacks!

Special thanks to the 24 designers that sponsored the prizes for the giveaways!

Eller Peplum by Blaverry

March is already underway and since the beginning of the month I've been hidden away in the snow and mountains at my aunt's. Taking a short break from sliding and and shoveling snow to show you Eller a PDF pattern by Blaverry.

This little peplum top designed for knit fabrics is the perfect quick sew to add some fun to an end of winter wardrobe.

As usual Blaverry offers such a great size range (size 2T - 16 years), layered printing and easy to follow instructions.

JubeJube agrees, she needs more of these in her wardrobe to get her through to the warmer weather.

Until next time, xx.

Florence Vintage Dress Sew Along

For the past couple of weeks I've been having fun sewing up a vintage dress with the ladies over at the Handmaiden's Cottage Pattern Group. We've lovingly named this dress pattern Florence.

After seeing this dress on Amelia, I'm sure you're going to want to make your own. Click here for the link to the Handmaiden's Cottage pattern shop to purchase the pattern pieces. Once you have your pattern pieces, follow the link and join us in the pattern group to get all the information you need to sew up this pretty dress.

This dress features button closure at the front, side zipper, 1/4 circle skirt, darts at the front and back bodice for a close fit and a beautiful wide collar with scallops.

In true vintage style the pattern has a 5/8" seam allowance and a 3" hem allowance and even instructions on how to do your buttonholes by hand!

I'm already looking forward to spring and setting up an outside tea party for Amelia because this dress is demanding a fun special occaison!

Until next time, xx.

Amare by Sofilantjes

This is the sweet Amare tunic by Sofilantjes*. I've been itching to get started on my spring and summer sewing and Amare is my starting off point.

After reading here, you might want to go to Anne's blog at Sofilantjes for details on hand sewing Amare and a giveaway!

I used a classic hound's tooth print 100% cotton by Michael Miller for this one. JubeJube chose her fabric and I thought it was the perfect selection.

I just love the details of the bow at the front, the shape of the neckline. Buttons close up the back. In the pattern you can also find a dress options and also an options for ties to create a bow at the back.

The pattern has an amazing size range from 12 months to 12 years and also has the layering feature to print only the sizes you need and want.

Go check out the details of hand sewing at Sofilantjes. I used the blind hem stitch and the ladder stitch to sew the lining to the main garment.

Until next time, xx.

Legend by Sew Straight & Gather

I can really get used to this, more sewing for me! Best of all is that I love the fit and style of my new Legend top. I got to test the brand new pattern from Sew Straight & Gather and I love it! Truth is I really want you to take advantage of the amazing release price that Terri's offering on the ladies and girls version of Legend. Sale end February 19th, 2016.

I only made the ladies version, but knowing how much I love this little knit pattern I think I need to make some for Amelia and JubeJube. Both the ladies and grils version have different sleeve options, and also have dress options (its really cute with a gathered skirt).

I usually wouldn't opt for a sleeveless version, but in this case, Legend is great for layering. I don't know about you but I find it can get quite uncomfortable with many sleeve layers. The neckline hits at just the right place.

En temps normale, je porte toujours un haut avec une manche mais ce petit haut et parfait pour y rajouter un cardigan.

I'm sold, I think I need to make myself one in every color! I may make a nice cozy long sleeve version next, after all its still winter here!

Je suis acro a ce model, je crois que le prochain "Legend" va Ãªtre a manches longues, après tout c'est l'hiver!

Until next time, xx.

A la prochaine, xx.
