Handmade Holiday Tour with Love Notions

It happends every year, without fail, the girls get a new set of PJ's. Sometimes I must admit they are store bought, but most times I manage to take time to sew them up.

I do like Christmas themed pyjamas, but then when the holiday season is over I can't stand to see them... especially come spring time, it's almost like seasonal depression, I want to see the flowers in bloom and feel the heat of the sun on my face. So now you know where I'm going with the fabric selection on this PJ set I made for JubeJube using the Moto Maxx pattern by Love Notions (affiliate link).

I can't believe I haven't used this pattern before! I also can't believe I made JubeJube a size 7! Just a bit of trivia for you: the first pattern I ever made using a Love Notions pattern was the Trendy Tunic, I made JubeJube a size 2. Check out the cute face here (Click!) don't comment of the poor photography, lol.

The Moto Maxx set isn't just for PJ's, it can be used for everyday wear too. The top has a short sleeve option and also the long sleeve without the cuff, the hem line can be either a staight or scalloped. The usual features are included in this PDF, layered printing and trimless pages for quick assembly.

The pants have pocket options... front hip pockets and back pockets with flaps. I made the pants using a front hip pocket (note to self, check pockets before putting the pants in the laundry!).

I used the embroidery machine by Brother to add a special touch to the front of the t-shirt. I found Inspired Sayings by Designs by JuJu, and thought it would be a perfect match to the fabric and to JubeJube's way of thinking. The fabric is Art Gallery, Recollection purchased at Club Tissus.

And by the way, see that bunting in the back, just a sneak peek of a pattern being released in January 2018 by Rebecca Page. I'll have more about that when the pattern is released!

PJ's for Spring Break

Its the first week of spring and its freezing here, so no short sleeved jammies for now. Instead I made a crowd favorite, Alex and Anna Winter PJ's by Peek-a-Boo Patterns! (affiliate link)

As usual, Amelia chose her fabric, she pleaded with me to buy this panda bear print. The fabric is 95% cotton and 5% spandex from Fabricville, its so soft and comfy.

This child is growing like a weed so I decided to make a size 6 and really glad I did.

This pattern is really easy and fast to put together, only 90 minutes from start to finish including a number of interruptions from a little girl asking for snacks. As usual Amy's insturctions are easy to follow. The size range of this pattern is 3 months to 12 years, a fantastic range to make good use of this pattern.

The final result is a cozy PJ to take Amelia into the warmer weather. I see more of these on my to-do list! I really do like the way they fit and she didn't want to take them off which means that she likes them too.

So this one is a winner, Amelia approved, and she even got her snacks!

Special thanks to the 24 designers that sponsored the prizes for the giveaways!

Sweet Dreams Vintage Style

I've been away a lot for the month of July and already we're the first week into August! Time just flies, and I want it to slow down...just a bit. Just because I was away doesn't mean I didn't get any sewing done, my sewing machine has gone on its first road trip! I made the girls each a vintage style sleep set using patterns from Rabbit Rabbit Creations

You'll want to read to the end because Jasmin has offered to give away to one lucky reader a bundle of 3 Rabbit Rabbit Creations patterns, winner choice!

These sleep sets are perfect for those hot summer night. I used cotton that I've had for a while in my stash, but you could also use cotton voile, swiss dot, and I would even be game to try it in a cotton jersey however it wouldn't give the same vintage look to it but I bet it would be really comfy.

Although I used the same patterns and for both sets I want to make them a little different. JubeJube and Amelia really have thier own style and yes they both wear the same size in clothing, but seeing that JubeJube is 6 years old and Amelia only 4 years old I wanted to give JubeJube's PJ a little more of a big sister look to it by adding eyelet trim to it.

While making Amelia's set I ran out of single fold bias to make the elastic casing...its 2am, all stores are closed but I did have some cute elastic in my stash. Instead of putting the elastic in the inside I used a zigzag stitch and laid it on top as an embelishment. I added a little satin ribbon to make a bow. I also added some of that fun elastic to the cami so that both the cami and bloomers would have the same style.

For JubeJube I added some eyelet to the cami at the front and also to the hem of the bloomers. I used the seam allowances at the hem of the bloomers to create my elastic casing.

The pieces came together quite quickly and the pattern has great photos with the step-by-step instructions in the tutorial.

Just in case you're wondering, these are the woods right in back of my aunt's house, about 25 km from Mount-Tremblant, Quebec. This is where I spent most of the month of July.

Until next time, xx.

Footed PJ's for Christmas

I was asked (a while back) by a friend of mine about some footed PJ's and me being me said "OH yes! I'll make them."  First, I had a hard time finding a really nice knit for the job. Second, had zipper issues (couldn't find any the right color and length). In the end I do love the way all 3 PJ's turned out! They're perfect for waiting for Santa!

I used Peek-a-Boo's classic footed PJ pattern. The pattern is sized to fit newborns to size 12 years (you know I'll be using this one often). You might just want to visit Peek-a-Boo Pattern Shop, they have so many cute patterns available.

I made these PJ's with a light to meduim weight knit. Zippers are only half way down the front, zipper tabs, reinforced stitching at the crotch and non-skid soles just some of the features of these pyjamas.
