Women's Bundle Up Tour, Pier 7 & Clémence

Its not very often that I make it onto my own blog, but I think it should happen more often, after all its fun to get something new to wear. I sewed up the Pier 7 top by Terra's Treasures and Clémence bermudas by Filles a Maman. Both patterns are part of the Bundle Up collection on sale now from May 1st to May 8th.

I changed up the top just a little. This top is designed with cute flutter sleeve, but I decided to leave them off  this time (yes, this means I will for sure be making more of this top), instead I finished off the armscyes with bias.

One of my favorite details on this pattern are the pleats down the centre front bodice. This is a top that can be easily worn with jeans and dressed up for a night out or to the beach and I just love it!

Here are some of the pattern details:
  • Sizes range from ladies 0 to 26
  • Seam allowances included are 3/8"
  • Photos and drawings included with the step-by-step instructions
  • Clear instructions on full bust adjustments
  • Designed for woven fabrics
  • Chart with yardage requirements and list of required notions

Now on to Clémence. These are great! They come in two lengths, bermudas and shorts, and you've guessed it, I went with the bermuda length.

I love the easy style of this pattern. Zipper closure is on the side and the waistband is a facing which I find is so comfortable. There are a few options to dress up the front of these shorts, I went with the single scallop option.

    This pattern features:

    • Sizes ranging from 00 to 24
    • 3/8" seam allowances
    • Drawings and photos are included with the step-be-step instructions
    • Easy to follow directions on how to adjust the pattern to fit your body
    • Chart with yardage requirements and list of required notions
    • Designed for woven fabrics with a 2% lycra content

Both pattern are very enjoyable to sew up, but you don't have to take just my word for it. Go see what the other stops on the tour have to offer and check out what patterns are featured in this Bundle Up...so many pattern so little time...to get them all at a fantastic low price!

    Until next time, xx.

Odette by Sunday Girl Designs & Giveaway

I've been aching to show this little number off! Odette by Sunday Girl Designs is one of those timeless little outfits that little girls love to have in their closet.  This pattern offers so many options and is from size 3 to 8, I'm sure you'll use it more than once. Odette is now available in their Etsy shop along with many other patterns. Read to the end because you'll have a chance to win a copy of this pattern by entering through Rafflecopter.

So by now you know how particular JubeJube is, and when she has decided something she will not change her mind, unless there's a necklace or candy involved. JubeJube wanted to be able to wear a necklace so no collar, but I did get to make the top with tulip sleeves. I also stitched buttons to the font to add some detail. There's an inverted pleat at the front of the top to give it some volume, the perfect little touch.

I also stitched buttons to the shorts instead of the ties suggested in the pattern just so everything would tie in nicely.

I decided to go with shorts to match the top, but capri pants are also available in the pattern.

I just love the detail of the tulip sleeve with bias tape for trim.

Ok now time for the giveaway! I'm so happy to say that Georgianna from Sunday Girl Designs is offering one lucky reader a copy of her new pattern! I'll make it really easy for you with Rafflecopter...So don't forget to enter! Oh, if you want to see behind the scenes in Sunday Girl Designs just go take a look at their blog

Willow and Co. Sneak Peeks: Clover and Persimmon

Some of our favorite bloggers and pattern designers have come together to create a a stunning collection of sewing patterns under the name of  Willow & Co. Patterns.  Catch up on their blog Willow & Co. and discover the inspiration behind the Spring/Summer collection, Wanderlust. Hayley,  from Mouse House Creations, designed the Clover Shorts and Persimmon Dress and Tunic as her contribution to the collective. The patterns won't be available for sale before the 22nd of April, but since I got to test out these two patterns I can offer you a sneak peek!

Here's my take on both Clover and Persimmon.

I decided to make the tunic length, very plain and simple with no pockets (because there is a pocket option) and no ruffles. You know me, I like the simple look. The straps are simple ties. You may not see all the details but there are little pleasts in the front and back top part of the bodice which gives this top its fullness.

I used a very light weight cotton, with a tiny floral print for a little of a vintage look...again one of my things the tinier the flower the better because it means there's a lot of them.

And yes I caught JubeJube in the act of laughing! Now back to the clothes...

The shorts also so full of details like inverted pleats, button tab belt loops, hip pockets, belt sash and cuffs. Such elegant shorts for a child...I want those for me! I used a linen fabric for the shorts and I love how this outfit came together!

One last image, just because. Do come back tomorrow because I'll have more sneak peeks of other Willow and Co. patterns that I was able to test.

    Until next time, xx.

Love me Knot Shorts Designed by GYCT

The weather hasn't warmed up to the point of wearing shorts, infact there's still some snow on the ground. So we're going to will the spring weather by sewing up some spring and summer stuff.

This morning Get Your Crap Together has released their new pattern, Love me Knots. You can pick up your copy in their Craftsy shop.

I used a light weight denim with a little floral print for the shorts. The short feature a keyhole at the side and a waistband with and elastic at the back. The pattern also has a pocket option that I left out.

I was so glad to see how fast these shorts went together. A couple of hours, with many interruptions from both littles, was all it took.

If Amelia's warm smile doesn't bring the sun out, nothing will!

    Until next time, xx.

The Short Version of E+M Children's Pants Pattern #2 and Giveaway

Remember these pants from the end of last week? Well JubeJube loved them so much that I had to make her another pair...and since we're going into spring (I hope, there's still a lot of snow on the ground here) why not make the short version available in E+M's Pants Pattern (with just a little modification).

I love that these are not short shorts. It makes it so mush easier to dress up with a cute little blouse...and off to grandma's house we go! And also easy to wear with a plain tee...and off to the beach we go! Not to worry, these shorts (and pants) can also be made for boys and the sizes range from 2-10! Change up the fabric and add the pleated pocket instead of the ruffled pocket, you could also add a little cargo pocket to side of the pant leg.

I added a cuff and the little button tab.

The front waist lays flat and there's an elastic at the back of the wasit. Love those practical hip pockets. I just have to remember to check them before throwing them in the wash.

And they're JubeJube approved because, yes I got a smile out of her! She also know that another kiddo will be able to wear these comfy shorts (or pants) because E+M Patterns is giving away their Children's Pants Pattern #2 to one lucky reader! Enter now with Rafflecopter, giveaway ends on the 27th of March at 12am EST.

Spring Line Release by My Little Plumcake and Bundle Giveaway

My little Plumcake has just released their amazing spring line, four patterns in all. Don't forget to use the code "spring14" at check out to get 15% off each of the patterns released today which include the Addie Spring Shorts, the Maddalie Spring Dress, the Chloe Pleasted Skirt and the Harper Blouse! You can also get yourself the bundle of all four patterns. For the first 100 people to buy the bundle get an extra discount using the code "Collection2014"

Here are the versions I tested.

The Maddalie Spring Dress on JubeJube.

I love this dress layered with a cardigan.

    The Chloe Pleated Skirt.

I added the premade ruffle at the bottom of the skirt lining to have it peek out from under the pleated skirt for a little extra whimsy.

    The Addie Spring Shorts.

And the Haper Blouse that can be paired with either the shorts or the pleated skirt. It so happened that I did have photos of the shorts and blouse together, but little Miss Amelia, after one smile, decided that she had enough and wanted to hold her baby doll. Doesn't make for very nice photos to have a doll under your arm or right in front of the shirt, the very one you're trying to get photos of.

Michelle from My Little Plumcake has worked so hard to get these patterns together, and all of it is so beautiful! Here is a collage of photos from thier official shoot.

My Little Plumcake has more photos of this shoot on their facebook page, go ahead and have a look.

Now for some big news...My Little Plumcake is offering a bundle of all 4 patterns to one lucky winner! Just enter here using Rafflecopter!
