EYMM Back to School tour: Moms Edition

JubeJube and Amelia have been back to school for a week now...so with an empty house I get to sew a little more, and this time its for me. The days are getting shorter and the evenings a little cooler so why not make a cozy cardigan to be able to stay out a little longer.

Four Seasons Cardigan by EYMM (affiliate link)  and a sweater knit was just the perfect combination. I made this pattern a some time ago but decided I needed a new one. The version I made has the hood and I made it 4 inches longer than the cadigan length. You'll notice on your pattern that there's also the duster length. Not to mention many different sleeve lengths and a huge range of sizes.

The longest part of this project was getting the pattern tiles assembled, but once cut out and at the sewing machine it took less than 2 hours to put together. That does include taking the time to iron all hems before stitching with my twin needle.

I did use a little bit of clear elastic to stabilize the fabric at the shoulder seam and the back neckline since this is a very loose knit. I didn't want those seams to stretch out.

I think this one is a winner, comfort and style all in one. I'm working on rebuilding a more adult looking wardrobe and I think this one will fit in very nicely!

Looking for some more ideas on some fun sewing projects...check out the other stops on this tour!

Girly Cardigan by Heidi & Finn

A couple of days ago Heidi & Finn released a new pattern, Girly Cardigan. Its the perfect addition to any girl's fall wardrobe. I tested the pattern in a size 3 for Amelia and it was just the perfect fit for her!

This pattern was designed to be lined and can be made in a woven or knit fabrics, I made mine in knits. I used grosgrain for the ties but they can be made with fabric. The ruffle around the neckline and down the front really adds a fun detail.

Here are some of the pattern details:

  • Designed for knits or wovens
  • Reversable option
  • Sizes range from 6 months to 12 years
  • Easy to follow tutorial

Amelia just taking full advantage that JubeJube is now in school and I get to test most patterns for her now.

Until next time, xx.

Julia Women's Cardigan by Mouse House Creations

This time a little selfish sewing going on in my work shop. Hayley from Mouse House Creations has launched her second pattern AND, YAY, its for women! I should also mention that the sizes range from XS to XXXL.  This pattern is now available in their Etsy shop.

When you look at the sketch so many options are available, you can't make just one. Since I was in a bit of a time crunch I had to choose only one, but believe me, more of these will be making their way out of the workshop and into my closet! So recovering from my sinus infection and still having the chills I went with the long sleeve and used a heavier knit (that I've had in my stash for about 8 years). Honestly this pattern super easy, it took me just under an hour to sew up. I put it on for a few photos and didn't take it off all day. That my friends is comfy and cozy!

Amazing what a comfy cardigan and a little makeup can do! I love the detail of the cuff at the sleeve, this allows you to adjust your sleeve length after trying it on so you don't end up with super long sleeves. I used a rolled hem for an easy no fuss finish.
